"Tomorrow is a leap year (leap day?). I'm sitting here thinking back to the last leap year; and to say that the last four years have been a journey, would be an understatement. Oh my güd-ness. It has been a time. This time in 2016, I had no idea what I was about to learn. I remember thinking that I had learned all there was about myself. I thought that beginning my recovery had taught me everything the universe had to offer, and that the radical shift in my social life was completely life-altering. Little did I know, that I'd go on to start two businesses, move to NYC, and then across the country in two suitcases, meet the most interesting group of friends (that I'd call family), feel the most connected to myself, my inner being, and my body that I've ever felt, AND pick up a hobby of climbing mountains just to sleep on them. It's wild how much can happen in such a short period of time. And even wilder to think that on the first leap year I'd ever experience, in 1996, a skincare company that would have such a massive impact on my skin (and mind)’s wellbeing was launching to the world. This year, in honor of the leap year, @OSEAMalibu is warping time and going a 'lil retro. Their entire line is priced at what it was when they first launched in the 90s! Fun!! "Dating while you're low waste/vegan can be v intimidating. I honestly didn't know what to expect when I jumped back in the game, but in hindsight, I didn't have anything to worry about! I still can't believe how much happiness this human has brought me since we met on @Hinge at the end of 2018. Heck it, I'm proud to say we met on the internet. The minute I saw his (stinking cute) face on my phone screen holding a reusable mug in one of his photos, my mind was like... "HI! HELLO THERE! YES PLEASE!" What's more attractive than a mans/partner avoiding single use disposables! Little did I know that I'd borrow that exact mug countless times to bring home fresh brewed tea (that he surprises me with before I scurry out the door in the morning). Or that I'd walk with that same human (carrying same mug in hand) to the bus every morning on the way to work before kissing goodbye for the day. Or that that man would teach me things about myself, and about life that I never expected. Or that I'd rub off on his lifestyle choices too (switching that tea he makes to loose leaf tea over bagged when I raised his awareness to the plastic found in tea bags, for example. Or meal prepping vegan foods in his Sunday routine!) All of this is to say that I don't know what I did to deserve this man. Truly. And watching us both learn from each other, growing alongside each other, has been pretty dang magical. I'm off dating apps! @Hinge is the app designed to get you off apps too.
